Worst Sports For Tooth Damage

Posted on 1/15/2018 by Matt Aldridge DDS
Tooth Damage Oasis Dental WA 98683No matter what age you are, oral hygiene practices everyday are very important. Oral health can have a huge impact on your overall physical health.

Scheduling regular office visits for cleanings and exams are also just as important so that your dentist can give you that deep clean you just cannot get at home, and check over things you may not see in the mirror.

Things can however be going smoothly for you, and then the unexpected can happen. Chips, cracks, or even loss of a tooth or teeth. This is why we want to go over with you the worst sports for injury to your teeth. Sometimes you may not think of your teeth with a busy lifestyle. Here are the worst sports for damage to your teeth.

Things You Should Think About When Playing Sports
The last thing you probably think about when getting involved in fun activities is what could happen to your teeth. Well, when things are going at a fast pace, things can happen. Basketball does not require mouth guards, with people running around, and arms and elbows flying around that runs a higher risk of injury to your teeth.

Hockey you have sticks and pucks flying at a high rate of speed. Bicycling with the rough bumps in the road can lead to falls and tooth injury. Boxing you can take all kinds of hits to the face and can lead to broken teeth and cuts to your mouth. Rugby also may be a higher contact sport. These are just some to name a few.

The good news is with dental technology today most injuries can be fixed very easily. Don't let any of these warnings stop you from going out, having fun, and getting involved. That is what we are here for. Accidents are going to happen, and we are here to help when those times come up.

Please do not hesitate to give us a call if you have on questions or concerns. Feel free to ask about fitting mouth guards too. If you think that a mouth guard is something you should think about give us a call or stop on in. Our goal is to keep you safe as well.
