These are a great, permanent option. Once you are set up, you are set for life. Find out if you are a candidate for dental implants today!

What is a Dental Implant?

ImplantsDental implants are one of the only permanent solutions for your missing teeth. It is a surgical option in which patients have a small titanium post installed into their upper or lower jaws where a tooth was lost or extracted. This acts as the tooth’s root when we install a new false tooth or a set of teeth. These appliances fuse completely with the bone over time, meaning that they will not move, shift, or fall out in the way that a removable denture or bridge might.

Benefits of Dental Implants

There is a wide range of advantages to getting dental implants. For starters, their permanence is a big bonus. Removable dentures become damaged over time, meaning they must be replaced down the line. They also need to be regularly removed for cleaning and maintenance. Implants are easy to care for and can last you for the rest of your life as long as you take care of them and your overall oral health adequately enough. They also will not mar your appearance or dignity by slipping or sliding in the way that a traditional denture might. You do not have to worry about your implants falling out!

These are also a healthier option. Because they sit in your jaw rather than on your gums’ surface, they do not lead to bone loss the way that regular dentures do. This keeps your jaw strong and continues the replenishment of bone rather than the diminishment of it. They are a very versatile option, giving you the ability to provide a secure base for one or many teeth depending on your needs.

The Process

The process of getting a dental implant is relatively simple. We will help you determine your candidacy pretty quickly. One of the largest determining factors is your bone density. If you have a low bone density, you may have to get a bone graft to be eligible. If your density is adequate, then we will start by numbing the area completely before making a small incision on the surface of your gums. Then, we can install the post directly into the bone, ensuring that it will fuse as it heals. We can stitch you up, and you will be set to go. In 4–6 months, your implant will be stronger than a natural tooth’s root, and you will be set for life!
