Oasis Dental wants you looking and feeling your best, so we offer the latest in restorative technology to repair your damaged teeth. Dr. Aldridge has years of experience getting his patients back on their feet as soon as possible, but now he is abler than ever before with his Same-Day Crown ability. Give us a call today to find out more.

What is a Crown?

CrownsWhen a tooth is deeply damaged or has required an in-depth treatment, often a crown is required. This is a small ceramic covering that helps to give your tooth its integrity back and allows you to keep the natural tooth rather than having to have it extracted and replaced with a false one. For example, when you have a root canal, the majority of the inside of your tooth is replaced and sealed with the dental material. This may increase your chances of further breakage or cracks down the line. The crown protects the tooth after your root canal is finished, and keeps everyday wear and tear from making your tooth weaker.

How Do I Get One?

Getting a crown used to be a bit more challenging than it is here and now. Originally, we would have to set up three separate appointments for our patients to get them all squared away. Now, though, we can support and protect your tooth in just one visit! We use cutting edge technology to take out the guesswork, making your visit simple. When you come in for a crown, you will not walk out with another appointment and a temporary, you will walk out with your new, permanent tooth.

If you are in need of a crown, the first thing that we will do is prepare the tooth. This may mean filing away a bit of the enamel to make room for the fitting. Then, we will be able to start preparing your crown. We will use a powder dusted over the surface of your tooth along with a scanning wand to create a 3D computerized image of the tooth. This allows us to create an exact model rather than having to take impressions and send them to a lab to make the crown. This image will be sent to a milling machine that will carve an exact model of your tooth from ceramic. This is your crown. It is just as exact as if it were made the other way, but is finished in a fraction of the time.

Once it is ready, we will make sure that the tooth is still numb from the preparation procedure. At this point, the crown will be fitted to ensure it is the perfect size, shape, color, and fits your bite pattern seamlessly. Once we are sure it is perfect, we will permanently cement it into place.

If you need a crown or suspect you will after an upcoming procedure, be sure to give Dr. Aldridge a call here at Oasis Dental today. We can make sure that you are comfortable with the process and confident in our abilities.
A better kind of dental practice for your entire family.
